you should stop by the links section.

next thing you should pick up a Sport Compact or Super Street magazine. thumb through the ads and you'll get an idea what is avalible.

the b16 will run you $1,500-$1,000. mounts are around $300 (so i've heard), and you need a v-tec controller. since you have a Si you could drop a ZC ($500) right in. it's 130 hp compared to the b16's 160.

some brands you are just paying for the name. other brands are proven. a good example is the DC Sports Header. it costs more but, it's worth it.

you should try to chat with "Habib" (AIM: Habibswd). he autocrosses. if he hasn't tried it, one of his (racing) friends have.

and finally, a good rule of thumb is to "go for what you know". after all, nobody else has the drive or look at the car everyday.

here's what id do, with that money you have, go B16!, make that hatch a SLEEPER!!! leave the outside stock looking, take of the hubcaps and paint the stock rims black,and lower it a little, put all your money into the motor and make people say WTF? when you blow them away

K if you wana keep it stock motor here is what i would get
5zigen rear section exhaust with custom bent middle section or a thermal
iceman 2 peice air intake (that way you could run it short or cold)
short shift kit
tokico 5ways with eather some ground controls or some eibach race springs

MotorZ(the way i would go after doing the other one stupid me haha)
1st gen JDM b16a with tranny an ecu 1500 ta 2000
clutch and short shift kit

Hello people,
I just purchase a 90 Civic SI, completely stock. I've got 3,500 to invest into this vehicle. What would you guys do? and what brands are better than others?
for instance what the difference between a $200 AEM intake and a APC Intimidator intake for $65?? they look the same, is it just a name thing? I want to do the most i can to this car. If i put a B16A into it where could i find the mounts, ecu, etc? just wondering..I've got a crapload of questions..first honda. Previous vehicle was a 92 Mustand GT conv. =] got boring

heh, to simplify i'm just curious what brands are worth the money. I plan to purchase a header, cat-back set, intake, coilovers, projector headlights, and from then on i'm pretty open for ideas.
anyone have any opinions?

i just got a HOT idea, swap the 1.6l for the dx 1.5L . get the wings west body package, z3 fenders, carbon fiber hood, get some 22" SUV wheels, clear lights all around.
that way, i'll have a super dooper all show and no go import. if anyone trys to race me, i'll just laugh and say they don't stand a chance. oh, i'll save gas too!


P.S. i know bad sense of humor, i'm tired =]

LMAO. you guys need to SLOW down. when did everybody turn gearheads??? nobody mentioned:

JDM front end conversion($650-$900)
4 wheel disc brakes ($300)
LCD monitors and maybe DVD (audio/video rules)

can't we broaden our horizons past a: b16, intake, exhaust, and header?
